Steven R. Wilson​

President and CEO

Mr. Wilson serves as President and CEO of Trinity LLC. He was part of the team that brought Trinity from concept to reality as it went through the accreditation process into a full fledged medical school. Mr. Wilson has many years of leading businesses through the early stages of development and into maturity, his track record speaks for itself. Mr. Wilson served as President and CEO of several highly regarded institutions over the past 22 years. Prior to Trinity School of Medicine, Mr. Wilson was President of TSYS Loyalty, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of TSYS, TSS on the NY stock exchange from 2003 until 2006 when he left to pursue the start-up of Trinity School of Medicine. Prior to TSYS, Mr. Wilson was President and CEO of Enhancement Services Corporation from 1998 to 2003, an institution that provided loyalty transaction processing and fulfillment services to the world’s largest financial institutions. Mr. Wilson was also the President and CEO of Business Travel, Inc. from 1986 to 1997. Mr. Wilson’s background and experience are a vital element in Trinity’s success as it endeavors to become one of the finest Caribbean medical schools available to students from North America and around the globe.

W. Douglas Skelton, MD​

Chancellor

Following graduation from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and a psychiatric residency at Columbia in New York, Dr. Skelton returned to Emory where he was a full-time faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry. During his Emory years he served as Chief of Psychiatry at Grady Hospital and then as Medical Director of the Georgia Mental Health Institute. From 1974 to 1980 he served Georgia as Director of Mental Health under Governor Jimmy Carter and as Commissioner of Health and Human Services for Governor George Busbee. He then returned to Emory as Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry. He later assumed additional duties at Emory as Vice President for Government Relations of the Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center. He served as a member of the National Advisory Mental Health Council during the Carter Administration. Dr. Skelton served as Dean of the Mercer University School of Medicine from 1985 to 2002 and as Senior Vice President and Provost for Health Affairs from 2002 to 2004. Active with the Association of American Medical Colleges, Dr. Skelton served as a member of the Generalist Physician Task Force, which has called for major changes in medical education to produce more generalist physicians. Since leaving Mercer in 2004, Dr. Skelton has served as the director of the Coastal Health District in Georgia. In 2012 he received the Community Physician of the Year Award from the Medical Association of Georgia and in 2014 the Distinguished Service Award from the Georgia Psychiatric Association.

Francis C. Purcell Ph.D., M.S.​

Provost - Dean

Dr. Frances C. Purcell comes to Trinity School of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia – Augusta University campus where she served as assistant dean of curriculum and increased campus enrollment. It was here where she spearheaded the nation’s first and only student-driven medical response disaster unit to help relieve communities seeking immediate medical attention after tragedy strikes. Dr. Purcell received an award for her devotion to assisting those in need with a quick “response ready” team of residents, medical students, and physicians by the American Association of Medical Colleges. 

Dr. Purcell’s education includes a Ph.D. in Education Leadership in Higher Education from Mercer University in Macon, GA. She also holds an M.S. degree in Psychology with a focus in Neuropsychology from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville. 

Prior to joining our institution of higher learning, Dr. Purcell’s additional career highlights include working to end homelessness in Savannah, GA at Union Mission, Inc. where she served as president and CEO, serving as an assistant director for academic program development at Mercer University’s School of Medicine, and working as the assistant director of the Master of Public Health Program in the Department of Community Medicine. Assistant Working Women in Need (AWWIN), a non-profit organization, honored Dr. Purcell as a philanthropic leader in their 2011 Top Ten Working Women of Savannah honoree list.

Eric Froistad

Chief Administrative Officer

Mr. Froistad serves as chief administrative officer for Trinity.  He has over 30 years of financial management experience, serving in executive finance and operations positions for public and private companies, including startups and global corporations. For the past eight years, Eric has been a partner with TechCXO, a consulting firm serving growth stage technology companies in the major U.S. technology hubs. As a finance executive and advisor, he has led companies through capital formation and restructurings, financial turnarounds, mergers and acquisitions, private exit transactions, and IPOs.  He has worked with companies in the media, resort/hospitality, education, and technology sectors, after beginning his career with Arthur Andersen in Denver, Colorado.  Mr. Froistad earned his BS degree in accounting from the University of Colorado and his CPA certificate from the State of Colorado.

Keith Hollers

Vice President of Student Services

Mr. Hollers responsibilities combine a number of important services for our students. He serves as Registrar and Bursar, oversees student transition and enrollment services, financial planning and student loans as well as the student information system, document management and student housing. Mr. Hollers holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and has extensive background in operations, administration, customer services, and organizational development. He has served in a wide variety of settings in both the public and private sectors and has a proven ability to organize, develop, and manage operations for the successful delivery of services. In concert with other team members, his role serves to promote the overall operational and administrative integrity of the organization to ensure a quality educational environment and experience for our student population.

Marc T. Zubrow, MD, FACP, FCCP, FCCM

Senior Associate Dean of Clinical Clerkships - Professor of Internal Medicine

A graduate of University of Pennsylvania and Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA., Dr. Zubrow completed his internal medicine residency and completed a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. He is certified in internal medicine and pulmonary and critical care. Leadership experience includes serving as director of MICU at Christiana Hospital, ICU at Wilmington Hospital, and many other clinical teams, receiving national recognition for his work. 

Prior to joining Trinity, Dr. Zubrow was associate professor of medicine and vice president of tele-Medicine at University of Maryland School of Medicine. In addition to his academic duties, he led the development and implementation of the University of Maryland eCare program, providing critical care coverage to 11 hospitals throughout the state of Maryland. He has also co-authored 50+ scientific papers and abstracts. Dr. Zubrow has served as ACCP governor for the state of Delaware as well as on a variety of committees at

Brielle Marks

Southeast Campus Director

Dr. Brielle Marks was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Albright College, in 2011 as a political science major and soon decided to pursue a career in medicine. Dr. Marks ventured to St. Vincent and the grenadines in January 2014, where she met her husband. She graduated in June 2018 and started residency at the Coliseum Medical Center, Department of Behavioral Health. 

Dr. Marks is board eligible in General Psychiatry and plans to sit for the boards in the Fall of 2022. She hopes to pursue her dreams in mental health advocacy, working in trauma-informed care among the cancer and OB/GYN population, continuing medical education all while also raising a family.

Associate Dean of Admissions and Student Affairs - Associate Professor

Dr. Jack-Edwards hails from St. Vincent and completed her pre-medical program and her MD program at St. Georges University School of Medicine in 2003. She completed an internship at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in Kingstown, St. Vincent in 2005 and was certified as a medical practitioner with the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 2006. She has taught at the Girl’s High School in St. Vincent and has served as a District Medical Officer in the Cedars and Mesopotamia districts and as a Medical Officer, A&E Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. From January 2007 to February 2008 she served as a Clinical Tutor at St. Georges University School of Medicine in Grenada. In addition to her duties as Dean of Students, Dr. Jack teaches in the Introduction to Clinical and Community Medicine course as an associate professor.

Frances Jack-Edwards, MD

Dr. Jack-Edwards hails from St. Vincent and completed her pre-medical program and her MD program at St. Georges University School of Medicine in 2003. Frank Fitzpatrick, PhD

Professor | Pharmacology

Dr. Fitzpatrick is Professor of Pharmacology and discipline chair.  He received his PhD in Analytical Chemistry for the University of Massachusetts.  Prior to entering an academic career, Dr. Fitzpatrick was a successful research scientist at Vick Research & Development, The UpJohn Company, and the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah.  Previous academic appointments include the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.  He has earned the respect of his students who have bestowed six teaching awards on him.  His research interests are in the area of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in arthritis and pain: cardiovascular safety; diet, inflammation and colorectal cancer; and public health and pre-exposure prophylaxis of HIV in high risk groups.  He has published 136 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 26 book chapters.

Eric Audain, DVM, PhD

Assistant Professor | Biochemistry

Dr. Audain is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Dean of the School of Biomedical Sciences.  He received his DVM training at Agrary University in Havana, Cuba. After practicing for two years, he completed international training in foreign animal disease diagnoses in the US.  He completed his PhD in animal disease risk analysis and management in Cuba.  Dr. Audain joined Trinity in 2012.

Marcus Caine, MS

Instructor | Community and Behavioral
Sciences

Mr. Caine is an Instructor in the undergraduate and medical degree program.  He earned a bachelor of science (BSc) at the University of the West Indies and a master of science (MSc) degree at the University of London. He has been a successful instructor in mathematics, physics, statistics, and epidemiology.  He leads the Caribbean Examination Council and serves as a consultant for statistical issues for numerous research projects.  He is a member of the National Accreditation Board in St. Vincent.

Jeanette France, BA

Instructor | Communication and
Behavioral Sciences

Mrs. France is an Instructor of communication skills. She received a diploma in Education from the University of the West Indies and a bachelor of arts in English and history at the University College of the West Indies in Jamaica and London. She has extensive teaching experience and authored several modules for training teachers. She has been the advisor for three books and co-author of another.

Lina Díaz, MD, PhD

Professor | Anatomy

Dr. Diaz is Professor of Anatomy and serves as the discipline chair.  She received her PhD in Anatomy at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences in Havana, Cube after completing her MD degree at the Universidad de Oriente in Cuba and two Specialist Degrees in Human Anatomy through the Ministry of Public Health in Cuba.  She held several academic positions in Cuba before moving to schools other schools in the Caribbean and joining Trinity in 2013.  She has tutored many student research projects and has been a member and/or Chair of the Board of several 1st Degree Specialization Exams of Anatomy.  Her research interests are maternal and fetal nutrition.  She has been received an Outstanding Teaching Award from students.

Jamil Ibrahim, MD

Assistant Professor | Medicine

Dr. Ibrahim is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Education.  He received his MD degree from the Mathias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine at Southwestern University in Cebu City, Philippines.  He completed residency training in both clinical pathology and internal medicine.  Prior to joining Trinity in 2014, Dr. Ibrahim was part of a multispecialty practice in St. Vincent.  His area of research is peripheral neuropathy among diabetic patients in St. Vincent. He has received multiple teaching awards.

Miguel Miyares, MD, PhD

Professor of Biochemistry | Genetics and
Physiology

Dr. Miyares is Professor of Biochemistry and serves as discipline chair.  He earned his PhD in Biochemistry from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences in Havana, Cuba after completing his MD degree at the Universidad de Oriente in Cuba and two Specialist Degrees in Clinical Biochemistry through the Ministry of Public Health in Cuba.  He held several academic positions in Cuba before moving to schools other schools in the Caribbean and joining Trinity in 2013.  He held several academic positions in Cuba before moving to schools other schools in the Caribbean and joining Trinity in 2013.  Dr. Miyares has held many administrative titles during his career including director, department chairman, vice dean for faculty, acting dean, and dean.  He has mentored many graduate students during his career.  His research interests are in the area of nutrition and fetal maturity.

Dragan Jovanovic, MD, PhD

Professor | Pathology

Dr. Jovanovic is Professor of Pathology.  He received his MD degree from the University of Belgrade in Yugoslavia.  He earned a MS in immunology prior to completing his PhD at the University of Belgrade.  Following these, he completed postgraduate training at the National Institute for Health and Medical Research (INSERM) in Paris and then became a research scientist for INSERM in Nice.  His academic experience spans more than 10 years and includes appointments at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada and two Caribbean medical schools prior to joining Trinity in 2013.  His research interests are immunopathology, lymphomas and leukemias, rheumatology, and medical education. He has published 70 manuscripts and abstracts.

Yuliya Modna, MD, PhD

Associate Professor | Physiology

Dr. Modna is an associate professor of physiology.  She received her MD degree at Lugansk State Medical University.  Following postgraduate training she completed her PhD in medical physiology also at Lugansk State Medical University.  Her research interests are the physiology and morphology of solid phase of biological fluids and the impact of circadian rhythms in time management organization among students.

Keshab Paudel, MBBS, MD

Assistant Professor Pharmacology

Dr. Paudel is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology.  He completed MD and residency in Pharmacology at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal.  He has been actively involved in teaching and research activities for more than 11 years with 9 additional years of academic experience. Prior to joining Trinity, Dr. Paudel was a faculty member at Kathmandu Medical College and Chitwan Medical College in Nepal. His research interests are medical education and neuropharmacology. He has published 40 manuscripts and abstracts in peer-reviewed national and international journals and abstract books, and also has served as a peer reviewer in national and international scientific biomedical journals. He has also authored a book of Pharmacology.

Rama Paudel Nepal, BDS, MD

Associate Professor | Microbiology

Dr. Nepal is an associate professor of microbiology.  He completed earned his MD followed by residency training in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.  After residency, he joined Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital, a tertiary care hospital of central Nepal as an Assistant Professor of Microbiology and worked there until he joined Trinity School of Medicine. He is an experience teacher in several teaching modalities.  He serves as a manuscript reviewer for several journals.  His research interests are antimicrobial resistance, infectious diseases, and medical education.  He has 26 publications. He has receive teaching awards from students in terms 3 and 4.

Wezenet Tewodros, PhD

Professor | Microbiology

Dr. Tewodros is Professor of Microbiology and Immunology and discipline chair.  She began her teaching career as a Lecturer at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia, the same University where she had earned both her BSc. and MSc. degrees in Biology.  After nearly ten years of teaching Biology/Microbiology she left to pursue her PhD in Microbiology at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. Her research area focused on Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes and has several publications in these areas.  After obtaining her PhD, Dr. Tewodros joined the University of Asmara, Eritrea.  In addition to her academic career, she had held administrative posts of various capacities including the office of the Director of Academic Affairs at the University of Asmara.  In 2002, Dr. Tewodros was granted a research fellowship from the Swedish Institute and spent a year as a Visiting Scientist at the Karolinska Institute. She then took on a post doctorate position at the New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, in 2003.  Since 2005 she has been teaching Microbiology and Immunology at the US off-shore medical schools in the Caribbean.  In 2010, she joined her current position at Trinity School of Medicine, St Vincent and the Grenadines, West Indies.

Bernadette Scott, MD

Assistant Professor | Clinical Medicine

Dr. Scott is Assistant Dean for Assessment and Assistant Professor of Clinical Education.  She received her MD from St. George’s University in Grenada.  She conducted research in the United Kingdom on chronic fatigue syndrome before returning to practice at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in St. Vincent.  Dr. Scott is an instructor for BLS, ACLS, and PALS.  Her research interests include both clinical and academic projects.

Amrie Morris-Patterson, MBBS, MD

Assistant Professor of Psychiatry

Dr. Morris-Patterson is an Assistant Professor of Behavioral Sciences and Psychiatry.  She completed both her Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery and Doctor of Medicine in Psychiatry at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.  She was subsequently employed as the supervising physician in the public mental health system in St. Vincent. After her eight-years as senior registrar and consultant psychiatrist, Dr. Morris-Patterson accepted a position at TSOM as a lecturer in Behavioral Science and a clinical skills instructor. In addition to teaching, she is passionate about youth development and can be found as a regular facilitator at youth leadership training sessions and camps.

Appolonia Nankya-Williams, MS

Librarian

Ms. Williams is an Instructor and serves as the Librarian for Trinity Health Sciences University.  She earned a bachelor of library and information science from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.  She then earned a diploma in Human Resource Management and a master in management studies (MMS) at Makerere University.  She has served as a freelance researcher, management consultant, and worked with electronic records management.  Prior to joining Trinity in 2016, Ms. Williams held six years’ experience as a librarian in Uganda.
