Becoming a Doctor of Medicine

Trinity School of Biomedical Sciences has designed a core curriculum to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need for a career and life in medicine.
Trinity offers a comprehensive program to allow applicants from a variety of backgrounds to find the right way to prepare for a successful career in medicine. Whether you attend in-person or online, you will find the right path to build a foundation for successful application to our Doctor of Medicine program.
The specific curriculum of a student will depend upon the prior courses taken and the courses needed to fulfill the requirements to enter the Doctor of Medicine program. A minimum total of 90 credit hours is required for entry into the MD Program.

Are classes in-person or online?

Trinity offers two learning options for students in our Pre-Med program — live in-person classes or synchronous learning completed online. It is important to note that the final term of Pre-Med classes must be completed in-person at our campus in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This is to help prepare students for the rigors of the MD program that they are working towards.

How many terms is the Pre-Med program?

The number of Pre-Med terms required to move on to the MD program depends entirely on the student’s prerequisites prior to admission.

Is the MCAT required?

No, the MCAT is not required for admission into the Pre-Med program.

Is acceptance into the MD or Doctor of Medicine program automatic if I pass my undergraduate courses?

Students who successfully complete all requirements of their undergraduate program (90 credit hours) with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average will be considered for promotion to Trinity School of Medicine’s Doctor of Medicine degree program.

What is the advantage of Trinity’s 5-6 Year Pre-Med to Med Program?

Enrollment in Trinity School of Medicine’s 5-6 Year Pre-Med to Med Program will better prepare you for becoming a successful physician. Undergraduate students attend classes in a year-round format (trimesters), building towards promotion to the MD program in year two. The curriculum was designed with the same prerequisites U.S. students complete, giving students a level playing field for Step 1, Step 2 CK, and residency.

Can non-English speakers apply?

While English does not need to be your native language, applicants must be proficient in the English language or pass a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam. Students with non-English transcripts must have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), an accredited member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

What do Trinity's housing options look like?

Trinity offers clean and comfortable residence halls on campus and near campus. Students are required to live in campus housing during the final term of pre-med and basic science terms (terms 1 through 4). Trinity will consider requests for students to secure alternative housing to accommodate special needs. Trinity maintains a list of off-campus residential quarters that satisfy Trinity housing standards. Costs of Trinity’s on and off-campus residences range from $700 to $950 per month depending on amenities and location. The housing cost includes all utilities including high-speed internet, security, and transportation services.

How much does the Pre-Med program cost?

Trinity’s Premedical program costs $4,000 per term, (Terms I-lV).

Undergraduate students attend classes in a year-round format (trimesters) building towards promotion to the MD program. The curriculum was designed with the same prerequisites U.S. students complete, giving students a level playing field for Step 1, Step 2 CK and residency.

Students who have completed advanced placement (AP) courses may qualify for course credit toward the program. The number of undergraduate terms required depends on student prerequisites.

Access to MD Faculty on Campus

Final undergraduate term held on the medical school campus in St. Vincent to help prepare students for the rigors of the MD program. Students receive instruction from and interact with the Medical Program faculty and students.
