Clinical Transition Term

Trinity's Step Prep Integrated Systems Review is a comprehensive, 7-week program meticulously crafted to equip students for success on the USMLE Step 1 exam. This fully immersive study experience is tailored to address the unique needs of students as they prepare for clinical rotations. Additionally, our program includes the Kaplan Step 1 Prep Course, offering students access to top-tier resources and expert guidance to enhance their exam preparation.

Trinity students have an array of resources available to them during Term 5. The Medical Education Center provides 7,000 square feet of study space, where clinical faculty and student study groups can freely embody our team approach to the rigors of USMLE Step 1 preparation and clinical skills demonstration. Students have access to the hospital, residency, and clinical staff from Houston Healthcare System as well as access to medical simulation labs at nearby Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC). These resources provide a truly unique clinical training environment among international medical schools.

Clinical Transition Program Highlights

  • Faculty-facilitated preparation through comprehensive reviews that integrate basic science concepts with clinical scenarios.
  • Multiple assessments and diagnostic tests administered to assess student readiness with positive correlations to USMLE Step 1 performance.
  • Reviewing and refreshing clinical skills is a primary focus through active learning opportunities and essential for preparation of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).
  • Review of the undergraduate Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) demonstrating preparation for clinical training. This subset of the EPAs developed by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) focuses on the skills required to begin clerkships.
  • Students work closely with the clerkship coordinator to plan their 3rd year clerkship schedule.
“Trinity's clinical skills course is an asset to my education. It is a chance to learn, practice, and become proficient at a wide range of valuable clinical skills to help us not only become excellent clinicians but also to shine in our clinical rotations!”
