Trinity School of Medicine Celebrates Residency Match Success in 2017

Residency Match Offers New Programs, New States, and a Growing Reputation in Healthcare

Few days loom as large on a medical student's life like Match Day. For those who aren't aware, once a year, the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) releases all of the new residencies for the upcoming year. Typically very soon after Canada's own CaRMS releases their match results. These days also coincide closely with graduation, which makes it a very exciting Spring.

While medical students transition from students to professionals at this point, the learning is far from over. Residency, lasting anywhere from 3-8 years, is where students are shaped by their specialization. And even at their completion, often leads students on to fellowships to further refine and specialize, depending on their interests and career goals.

Trinity School of Medicine Offers Connections to Great Residency Programs

Trinity School of Medicine was founded in 2008, with our first class graduating in 2012. Ever since then, we've excitedly added new territories to our map. Notably this year, we matched a student into the highly competitive province, British Columbia through the Canadian Residency Matching Service (CaRMS). As you can see, we also added several states in the US, including North Dakota, North Carolina, Wyoming, West Virginia, and Rhode Island.

Previous Trinity Graduates Create Stepping Stones For Future Students

At the same time, many of our matched residents were following in the footsteps of previous graduates. Residency directors in these hospitals have come to recognize that Trinity School of Medicine graduates have something special to offer. We took the liberty of breaking some of our new matches out by state, specialty and program, to further paint a picture for you.

Cook County Stroger is showing its preference for Trinity anesthesiology residents for the third year. Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center has asked us back as well. This year including the sister of a prior Trinity grad and Wilson resident. This is the first year we've matched a graduate in North Carolina which, as you can tell, is only an indicator of more in the future.

LSU School of Medicine has come back for more in Louisiana. Additionally, we're proud to announce our first time sending graduates to residencies in North Dakota, Wyoming, and British Columbia.

Ohio, specifically Case Western Metrohealth and Cleveland Medical Center, are no stranger to Trinity residents.

University of South Alabama has welcomed us for a third time, the same goes for Hackensack UMC Mountainside in New Jersey. This is our second year matching graduates with Houston Methodist in Texas. Finally, Rhode Island and West Virginia are new territories for Trinity grads, and we couldn't be more excited.

Given our close ties to Georgia (our administrative offices are outside Atlanta, and our leadership has extensive ties to higher learning in the state). It's no surprise that this is the third consecutive year in which we've matched students to Medical Center Central Georgia/Mercer.
